June 19, 2002
It's been four weeks since chemo ended. Here's an update on me since I am most likely the most thrilling person you will ever read about.
On June 4th I had a CT scan (neck, chest, pelvis, abdomen). And on the new CT scanner too! It had faces that lit up to show you when to hold your breath and when to breathe. I was pretty impressed. I downed the barium faster than ever (woo!) but had a difficult time with the stupid hospital gown (boo).
I got the results today and (get ready for it)... my insides are completely normal and there is no sign of lymphoma anywhere (woo!). But I was only a week out of chemo when I had the scan so there wasn't much time for things to grow anyway. But that stuff is sneaky, so you never know.
In other news, I'm feeling fantastic. I've been trying to get back in shape, although I wasn't really in shape to begin with but the little shape I had was completely lost during the 8 months of chemo so I'm basically two-dimensional now. I've started doing yoga which is more fun than you'd think (unless you think it would be really fun in which case it is exactly that). I've also started going to the gym where I lift up large muscular men and throw them (after spinning them around very quickly above my head, of course). This does wonders for my biceps. I've stopped eating meat and now that I think of it I don't know why I started eating it in the first place since it's really not that good for you. But cancer makes you stupid, also I craved chicken McNuggets. That is no longer the case. I've also stopped drinking milk becuase I feel like it. So there.
In unrelated but imporant news, I failed my driving test two days ago. How it works in Ontario is like this: you do a written test and get your G1. You hang on to this for 8 months to a year while you can drive with someone who has four years experience, and not on certain highways. Then, you do a driving test and get your G2. With this, you can drive pretty much wherever, whenever, with whoever (whomever?), whyever, etc... you want. After at least a year of that, you do another driving test and get your G, which is a full license and you don't have to do anymore tests until you're 80 or something. But the catch is, you've got to do all of the steps in 5 years or less. SO, I got my G1 a couple weeks after my 16th birthday way back in '98. I got my G2 in May '99. I have to get my G by July 2003 so I went to do it on Monday. But nooooo, I failed becuase apparently they look down on driving across lawns simply to intimidate young children. Whatever. But that's not gonna stop me from partaking in my favourite pasttimes.
No, really I failed because the guy thinks I don't look around enough. Nevermind the whole "she didn't kill anyone nor did she come close to killing anyone and has been driving with full driving privileges for three years" thing. Oh well, so now I've got to do it again and believe you me, there will be some serious looking around going on on that day. I guess the whole "keep your eyes on the road" rule I learned 4 years ago in drivers ed has been scrapped.
I got a parking ticket today. $25. I have to renew my vehicle license for some crazy amount of money. I have to pay another $75 to do my test again. I think I'll apply to the Make-a-Wish foundation to get some gas money.
