My name is Heather and this is what I'm all about.
I was born on June 29, 1982 near Ottawa, Ontario. I have an older sister and younger brother. I also have a cat and have seen some hamsters and fish come and go. I lived about 45 minutes west of Ottawa for 18 years. In September 2000 I moved to Victoria, BC to go to school at the University of Victoria to take Sociology and Journalism.
In September 2001, at the beginning of my second year at UVic (when I was 19), I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease, a form of cancer affecting the lymphatic system. I moved back home in October 2001 and went through eight months of chemotherapy ending in May 2002.
In August 2002, I moved back to Victoria and have lived here ever since, cancer-free.
I like music (punk, hardcore, emo), skateboarding, snowboarding, reading, writing, thinking, going places and a lot more.
I don't believe in religion or any type of universal, omnipotent being. I don't believe God was involved in any way with my dance with cancer. Although my incredible dance moves may have you believe otherwise. I do believe in myself and the incredible power and strength that is in each person, most of which goes unnoticed for too long. Also, I invited God to my party and he didn't show up. You'd think such an impressive guy would at least call.
I still make jokes about cancer and chemo.
